As the dust settles on day one of the 2024 US Masters, it’s time to take a look at how our pre-tournament predictions have fared. In my pre-tourney analysis, I highlighted five players to watch. Let’s see how they’ve performed so far:

  1. Marcelo Rouco (Green Lady): Our faith in Marcelo’s skills has been thoroughly justified. Currently sitting at the top of the leaderboard, Marcelo has amassed an impressive 55 battle points with 5300 attrition. His combination of speed and punch seems to be paying off handsomely.
  2. Mike Szedlmayer (Nightstalkers): Mike is hot on Marcelo’s heels, ranking 2nd overall with 51 battle points and the highest attrition score of 5635. His resilient Nightstalker list is proving to be a formidable force on the tabletop.
  3. Adam Ballard (Trash Stalkers): Adam has had a strong showing, currently sitting at 8th place overall. With 47 battle points and 5565 attrition, his Nightstalker variant is holding its own against tough competition.
  4. Travis Timm (Mountain Goblins): Travis has made a solid return to the Masters, ranking 18th out of 64 players. While not as high as our top performers, his 38 battle points demonstrate that his horde approach is still competitive.
  5. Gabe Toth (Crystal Dwarves): Gabe’s Crystal Dwarves have had a slower start, currently at 26th place. With 36 battle points and the lowest attrition of our picked players at 2730, it seems the Dwarves’ resilience is being put to the test.

Overall, our top three picks have exceeded expectations, all landing in the top 10 after day one. While Travis and Gabe are lower in the rankings, they’re still in the top half of the field, and there’s plenty of gaming left to go.

It’s worth noting that the Mid-Atlantic region is dominating the top spots, with both Marcelo and Mike hailing from there. This regional strength could be an interesting factor to watch as the tournament progresses.
